The first one finished is EnglishDictationMaker. The reason is specific: when you set a dictation sheet, the time does not go into choosing the words. It goes into fitting them onto A4, working out the page breaks, nudging the type size, printing, and finding the last row cut off. This app takes that middle part away — a word list goes in, a sheet you can print comes out.
A few rules I hold myself to are listed below. In short: the data belongs to the user, do it offline where offline will do, and say out loud what leaves the machine before it leaves.

- Data stays on the user's own computer. No account, no connection required.
- If it can be done offline, do it offline. If it need not be collected, do not collect it.
- Anything that does leave the machine gets said out loud first: what is sent, and to whom.
- One thing finished beats ten things started.
